Taking the Gospel Global
This past Sunday, my friend Dan Roseman stepped up to continue our Multiply series, a study of Acts. He shared how the gospel went global! It wasn’t because the early Believers wanted to take a vacation or escape the summer heat; it was because the heat was being turned up on them! After Stephen’s stoning and death (Acts 7), Believers were facing some heavy persecution. It forced them to scatter throughout the region and beyond; but yet God was clearly at work. In fact, Jesus’ command for Believers was to be His witnesses in Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8). And, with this “scattering”, that’s exactly what began to happen!
In fact, by the end of Acts 8, we see Phillip sharing the gospel with an Ethiopian official and baptizing him too! Ethiopia would have been considered the “ends of the earth” to these early Believers. Clearly God was working His plan to spread the Good News, even as heavy persecution caused the Believers to scatter. God has a way of working all thing together for good for those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28). He will do that in your life too!
