What are you waiting for?
Jesus didn't wait for the people he met to clean up their lives or straighten out, he walked right into their lives and invited them to follow Him just as they were.
We learned this week about Zacchaeus the Tax Collector (Luke 19:1-10). Zacchaeus was not a popular guy, and not an honest guy. He was wealthy, but his wealth had come from cheating others. Zacchaeus had come to a place where Jesus was because "he wanted to see who Jesus was." He even climbed a tree so he could see him! Sometimes a passing encounter in our lives can have a huge impact on our future direction. This was certainly the case for Zacchaeus!
What did Jesus do when he encountered Zacchaeus? Did he call him out and remind him of all he had ever done wrong? Did he tell him that he had better straighten his life out before he could talk to him? Did he ignore him all together because he was not the right type of person? No, Jesus told Zacchaeus to come to him immediately, and that He was coming to his house!
How did Zacchaeus respond? Did he tell Jesus to wait a couple of days so he could clean his house or get to the store or cook some food? Nope. He welcomed Jesus at once!
What would we do if we were in Zacchaeus' shoes? Would we have waited to meet Jesus until we got our lives in order? Would we have panicked at the thought of Jesus entering our personal space before we had a chance to "prepare?"
Jesus wants to come to your "house." Jesus wants to get to know you, and He wants you to know him. What will you do? Will you go and "see who Jesus is?" Will you let him into your "house?" What are you waiting for before you do?
